ASTORIA, Ore. – The Coast Guard Cutter Alert returned Monday following a three month that stretched from the waters of Mexico to Canada.
During their deployment the cutter’s crew conducted counter narcotic and living marine resources patrols offshore of Southern California. Following these patrols, the crew participated in an international engagement event in Ensenada, Mexico, with the Mexican Armada, which included joint damage control training, law enforcement demonstration, and an evening dinner onboard Alert.... SAN DIEGO — The Coast Guard medically evacuated an 80-year-old woman from a cruise ship approximately 35 miles west of Point Loma Friday.
At approximately midnight Friday, watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector San Diego received a call from the crew of the cruise ship Carnival Imagination that an 80-year-old female passenger had hit her head and was experiencing severe headaches and nausea.
Sector San Diego's flight surgeon recommended that the patient be medically evacuated and taken to a hospital for emergency care.... [Read More]

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — The Coast Guard opened the ports of San Juan and Arecibo, Puerto Rico at 9:30 a.m. Friday following the passing of Tropical Storm Erika.
All other ports in Puerto Rico remain closed under Port Condition ZULU until further notice.
Coast Guard Port Assessment Teams are evaluating the port facilities and the conditions of the waterways in the eastern, southern and western ports of Puerto Rico prior to returning to normal operations.

PORT ARTHUR, Texas — A towboat that sank in the Neches River Aug. 21, and caused a temporary closure of the waterway, was successfully lifted out of the water Wednesday Evening.
T&T Marine, a contractor hired by the towboat company, refloated and towed the towboat Louise to Bolivar Barge Cleaning Service. The vessel was dry-docked and is awaiting inspection and potential repairs.
A small amount of residual oil on the water was removed by oil spill responders using oil spill containment and absorbent booms. ... [Read More]

A Coast Guard rescue swimmer from Air Station Port Angele is lowered down to the Lummi Island Patrol Boat to assist and set up a hoist of an injured fisherman south of San Juan Island, Wash., Aug. 27, 2015.
The fisherman was injured when the line he was handling parted, snapped back and hit him in the upper body while aboard the fishing vessel Mr. Wonderful.

JUNEAU, Alaska— A Coast Guard Station Juneau boatcrew medevaced a 61-year-old man experiencing symptoms of a heart attack aboard the cruise ship Star Princess in Lynn Canal, approximately 20 miles north of Juneau, Wednesday.

SEATTLE — The Coast Guard medevaced an injured fisherman south of San Juan Island, Thursday morning.
The fisherman was transported to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles in stable condition.
A watchstander at Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound received a radio call via VHF-FM channel 16 at about 7:40 a.m., from the captain of the fishing vessel Mr. Wonderful reporting the injury. The fisherman, a 34-year-old male, was injured when a line parted and snapped back and hit him in the upper body.... [Read More]

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — The Coast Guard is setting Port Condition ZULU as of 1p.m Thursday for the southern ports of Puerto Rico due to the passing of Tropical Storm Erika.
All other ports in Puerto Rico will also remain at Port Condition ZULU until further notice.
