SAN FRANCISCO — The Coast Guard rescued four boaters from a sinking WWII-era landing craft near Rio Vista Tuesday.Boaters aboard the 70-foot landing craft, which had a water truck aboard, contacted Coast Guard Sector San Francisco Command Center watchstanders at approximately 11:30 a.m., reporting that they were in distress.Sector watchstanders dispatched a crew aboard a 29-foot response boat from Coast Guard Station Rio Vista.... NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a woman from a cruise ship approximately 9 miles southeast of Fort Morgan, Alabama, Thursday.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a request at 8:43 p.m. from the cruise ship Carnival Fantasy for a medevac of a 54-year-old woman who had an injured shoulder.
Sector Mobile directed the launch of a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station Dauphin Island to assist the woman.... [Read More]

CAPE MAY, N.J. – The Coast Guard and American Red Cross placed more than 400 Coast Guard recruits with dozens of South Jersey families for Thanksgiving as part of Operation Fireside, Thursday.

MCKINLEYVILLE, Calif. — The Coast Guard rescued three people Tuesday evening after they had become isolated in the forest south of Eureka.
Humboldt County Sheriff's Department personnel notified Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay watchstanders at approximately 8:20 p.m., Tuesday, reporting that a 14-year-old female was lost in the woods near the Ridgewood area. NEW ORLEANS – The Lower Mississippi River has been reopened to vessel traffic from mile marker 771 to mile marker 767, Wednesday.
Coast Guard Sector Lower Mississippi River reports that all barges have been secured after the vessel Cooperative Enterprise had 42 barges break away, Saturday.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.

NEW ORLEANS -- The Coast Guard assisted a fishing vessel that was taking on water approximately 11 miles south of Grand Isle, Louisiana, Tuesday.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans were notified at 6:02 a.m. that the fishing vessel Jennifer & David was taking on water.
Sector New Orleans directed the launch of a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station Grand Isle and diverted Coast Guard Cutter Sturgeon to assist the vessel.... [Read More]

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a report at 4:45 p.m. from the 48-foot motor vessel Sea Note, that they had run hard aground and had two injured people on board.

HONOLULU — The Honolulu-based USCGC Morgenthau (WHEC-722) returned home Sunday after a 90-day 15,000 mile patrol in the Bering Sea.
During the patrol, the crew conducted numerous search and rescue missions, enforced fisheries regulations in the Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska and participated in community relations events in Dutch Harbor, Alaska.... [Read More]

NEW YORK – The Coast Guard is urging mariners in New York Harbor to exercise caution by slowing down to a safe speed and keeping a sharp lookout due to the continued presence of one or more humpback whales in the area.
One or more humpbacks are believed to be in the harbor with one in particular frequenting the waters of the Hudson River near Liberty Island and traveling as far north as the George Washington Bridge.
What is believed to be a second whale has been spotted in northern New Jersey waters, from Sandy Hook to Raritan Bay.... [Read More]

NEW ORLEANS —The Mississippi River has been reopened from mile marker 771 to mile marker 750 with vessel traffic restrictions near Memphis, Tennessee, Monday.
The area is open to one-way traffic to down-bound vessels.
Coast Guard Sector Lower Mississippi River reports that 38 barges have been secured after the vessel Cooperative Enterprise had 42 barges break away, Saturday. Four grounded barges are waiting to be lightered which is restricting the waterway.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report at 7:40 p.m. that two men lost the keys to their small boat at approximately 7:00 a.m. and were unable to start their engines.
