NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a woman from a cruise ship approximately 9 miles southeast of Fort Morgan, Alabama, Thursday. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a request at 8:43 p.m. from the cruise ship Carnival Fantasy for a medevac of a 54-year-old woman who had an injured shoulder. CAPE MAY, N.J. – The Coast Guard and American Red Cross placed more than 400 Coast Guard recruits with dozens of South Jersey families for Thanksgiving as part of Operation Fireside, Thursday. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a report at 4:45 p.m. from the 48-foot motor vessel Sea Note, that they had run hard aground and had two injured people on board. NEW YORK – The Coast Guard is urging mariners in New York Harbor to exercise caution by slowing down to a safe speed and keeping a sharp lookout due to the continued presence of one or more humpback whales in the area. One or more humpbacks are believed to be in the harbor with one in particular frequenting the waters of the Hudson River near Liberty Island and traveling as far north as the George Washington Bridge. NEW ORLEANS —The Mississippi River has been reopened from mile marker 771 to mile marker 750 with vessel traffic restrictions near Memphis, Tennessee, Monday. The area is open to one-way traffic to down-bound vessels. Coast Guard Sector Lower Mississippi River reports that 38 barges have been secured after the vessel Cooperative Enterprise had 42 barges break away, Saturday.
