ORLANDO, Fla. — Coast Guard members cheered on wounded warriors, including the lone prior Coast Guardsman at the 2016 Invictus Games in Orlando, Florida, Wednesday.
Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard Steven Cantrell, the highest ranking enlisted member of the service, was one of the Coast Guardsmen to cheer on Krissy Esget, the first female, and sole Coast Guardsman to compete in the games.... [Read More]

JUNEAU, Alaska — Coast Guard Station Juneau crewmembers rescued a person in the water from Gastineau Channel in Juneau Tuesday evening.A Station Juneau Response Boat - Medium crew rescued the man from the water before transporting him to Lightering Dock and turning him over to police custody.The Juneau Police Department contacted Coast Guard Sector Juneau command center watchstanders requesting assistance with a man who was spotted in the water near Lightering Docks in Gastineau Channel. Coast Guard crews covered nearly 22 square miles over a period of four and a half hours since beginning their search in the Intracoastal Waterway, Tuesday afternoon. ASTORIA, Ore. – The crew of the local Coast Guard Cutter Steadfast is scheduled to return home to Astoria, at 2 p.m., Wednesday, after successfully completing a 59-day counter-narcotics patrol in the Eastern Pacific.
The 65-person Astoria-based crew was deployed in support of Joint Interagency Task Force – South, or JIATF-S, with the primary mission of detecting and interdicting illicit drug trafficking. Steadfast also successfully completed missions including search and rescue, endangered species protection, and international relations.... [Read More]
