NEW YORK — A Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and local first responders rescue two fishermen in Keyport, New Jersey, Friday.
At approximately 8:00 p.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New York’s Command Center received a call from the Monmouth County Police Department, requesting Coast Guard support for two fishermen stuck in the marsh near Keyport.
Monmouth County Fire Department was on scene and able to rescue one of the two fishermen.... [Read More]

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard is searching for a person that reportedly fell from the Causeway Bridge on Lake Pontchartrain, Friday.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders were notified of a Hispanic male wearing a dark shirt and jeans, who reportedly fell from the southbound Causeway Bridge near the South Shore landing. The person reportedly fell through a gap in the fence near the beginning of the 35 MPH speed zone, at 11:55 a.m.

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Coast Guard will conduct a second round of public hearings for the Marine Board of Investigation into the loss of the United States-flagged steam ship El Faro, and its 33 crewmembers. The second hearing will focus on shipboard operations, cargo loading, lashing and stowage operations for the accident voyage while also examining the vessel's forecasted stability and weather conditions forecasted and encountered. In addition, the regulatory oversight for the El Faro will be examined to determine and potential implications of that oversight on the accident voyage.... [Read More]

PHILADELPHIA — The Coast Guard medevaced a 27-year-old fisherman Friday after the man suffered a leg injury 62 miles east of Cape May.
A crew member from the fishing vessel Stacy Lee called watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay in Philadelphia at approximately 12:45 a.m. to request assistance.

MIAMI — The Coast Guard repatriated 52 Cuban migrants to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba, Wednesday.
The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Dolphin repatriated 21 Cuban migrants and the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Gannett repatriated 31 Cuban migrants.
These repatriations are a result of three separate migrant interdictions at sea within the last week in the south Florida Straits. In each instance, the Coast Guard helped secure the U.S. border and prevented these perilous sea voyages from ending in tragedy.... [Read More]
