MIAMI — The Coast Guard has made a change in the Fort Pierce Inlet safety zone Thursday afternoon. Recreational vessels with less than six-foot draft are now allowed to transit through the Fort Pierce Inlet safety zone upon receiving clearance from the on-scene representative. WARRENTON, Ore. — The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Cuttyhunk while on patrol off of Winchester Bay, terminated the voyage of a fishing vessel for safety gear concerns found during an at-sea boarding Monday. The three member crew, fishing for crab, aboard the 39-foot vessel Dusky was safely escorted to Winchester Bay, where the vessel was ordered to remain until the crew fixed the especially hazardous safety condition of an expired life raft and replace the expired flares which were found on board.... MIAMI — The Coast Guard is alerting boaters of a temporary safety zone established at Fort Pierce Inlet, Florida, Wednesday. The safety zone will help ensure the safety and security of vessels as there is a sunken barge partially blocking the channel.  Tuesday afternoon, Coast Guard Station Fort Pierce and local agencies responded to the sinking of a barge that was being towed. The turtle, nicknamed Solstice, was found hypothermic and injured in Washington, in December 2014. ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Coast Guard has implemented a port closure Monday and Tuesday in St. Petersburg, Fla., due to inclement weather conditions and low visibility. The National Weather Service has put out a dense fog advisory. The bulletin states that dense fog is expected to affect coastal Hernando and Pasco Counties as well as the Tampa Bay area and toward the south.
