SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – The crew of a Coast Guard rescue helicopter recovered the body of a surfer just off Steps Beach Tuesday afternoon in Rincon, Puerto Rico.
Coast Guard watchstanders in Sector San Juan received a 911 call at 2:16 p.m. Tuesday reporting a missing 28-year-old male surfer in the area of Steps Beach wearing grey trunks.
A Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Borinquen was launched to the scene, while Puerto Rico Emergency Management rescue crews also responded to assist with the search.... [Read More]

HONOLULU — The Coast Guard is continuing the search for a student reported overboard from a Japanese training vessel approximately 70 miles southwest of Kauai, Tuesday.
Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Honolulu Command Center were notified at 9:56 a.m., regarding a 17-year-old male Japanese national who was reported overboard from the 208-foot Japanese training vessel, Hokuho Maru during their transit from Honolulu to Japan.... [Read More]

SAN FRANCISCO — The Coast Guard, San Francisco Police Marine Unit and Vessel Assist San Francisco saved two people aboard a pleasure craft after their vessel began sinking near the Oakland Estuary in the San Francisco Bay Tuesday morning. At 10:28 a.m. Tuesday, Coast Guard Sector San Francisco’s Command Center received a VHF-FM radio transmission on channel 16 from a person aboard a 29-foot pleasure craft reporting the boat was taking on water at a rapid rate. ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A 29-year-old man was located deceased by a good Samaritan, and recovered by a Coast Guard crew eight miles west of Hudson Beach, Florida, Tuesday.
Deceased is Anthony Coffey, 29.
A 45-foot Response Boat — Medium crew from Coast Guard Station Sand Key, Florida, found Coffey.
William Coffey, 17, was found alive by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission crews earlier today and was transported to Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, Florida.... [Read More]

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — William Coffey was rescued by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission crews in a debris field eight miles west of Hudson Beach, Florida, Tuesday.
Missing is Anthony Coffey, 29.

SEATTLE — The Coast Guard is responding to a report of pollution on the Hoquiam River in Grays Harbor, Monday.
A Coast Guard incident management team is currently on scene working with Cowlitz Clean Sweep personnel to contain and clean up pollution by booming off the area, using absorbent materials, flushing the waterway, setting up containment berms and using vacuum trucks to remove contaminated water.... Fort Myers Beach, Fla.— Two boaters reported missing Monday morning were found two hours later aboard their 20-foot aground sailboat near Shell Point (Florida) Marina by the Coast Guard and Lee County (Florida) Sheriff's Office.

BOSTON — Coast Guard crews responded to an offshore distress call from a 43-foot sailing vessel that was disabled and adrift in a winter storm about 150 miles south of Nantucket, today.
Watchstanders at the First Coast Guard District command center in Boston received an alert beacon signal at about 4:50 a.m. from the sailing vessel Sedona, and contacted the two men via satellite phone.

First responders from Kingsville, Ontario, prepare for rescue efforts of two individuals who were stranded two miles offshore of Kingsville on unstable ice, Feb. 14, 2015.
An aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Detroit hoisted the two individuals from their location on the ice and transported them to the Kingsville ferry docks where they where met by Kingsville first responders.

CLEARWATER, Fla. - An injured man was medevaced from a commercial tank ship 100 miles southwest of Tampa, Florida, Sunday morning.
At approximately 7:50 p.m. Saturday, watchstanders from the Coast Guard 7th District command center in Miami, received a call from a crewmember aboard the commercial tank ship, Cielo di Guangzhou, stating a 43-year-old man had suffered a leg injury and was in need of emergency medical assistance.
A Coast Guard flight surgeon was notified and reccomended the man be medevaced.... [Read More]
