Ten seafarers were kidnapped yesterday from the general cargo vessel Milan while underway some 14 nautical miles off the Pennington Offshore Terminal in Nigeria.
The vessel was in transit from Escravos to Douala, Cameroon, according to the UK-based maritime security firm Dryad Global.

A Malta-flagged tanker sustained hull damages following a mine explosion in the Red Sea, about 125 miles north of Saudi Arabia’s border with Yemen.

DFDS and its partners have applied for EU support for the development of a ferry powered by electricity from a hydrogen fuel cell system.
The partnership includes DFDS, ABB, Ballard Power Systems Europe, Hexagon Purus, Lloyd’s Register, KNUD E. HANSEN, Ørsted and Danish Ship Finance.

US classification society ABS and South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) have signed a joint development project (JDP) to use solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) technology to replace at least one of three diesel generators typically onboard a very large crude carrier (VLCC).
It’s the second SOFC-focused JDP between ABS and DSME, with the first collaboration in 2019 revealing the high efficiency of a SOFC and gas turbine hybrid system due to the re-use of hot exhaust off-gas.... [Read More]

NYSE-listed tanker owner and operator Overseas Shipholding Group has closed a $49.1 million loan to finance a newbuild oil and chemical ATB barge.
OSG’s subsidiaries, OSG 205 LLC and OSG Courageous II LLC, will use the loan to refinance the tug to which the barge is being paired, the OSG Courageous.
