Singapore’s shipbuilder Strategic Marine has recently signed a sale and purchase agreement with Malaysian vessel operator Centus Marine for one 40m fast crew boat (FCB). This will be the 48th vessel delivered by the aluminium shipbuilding specialist to Malaysian operators and the second one to be delivered to Centus Marine, Strategic Marine has said. On 2 December, Lithuanian government approved a draft resolution that would lead to the Port of Klaipeda being upgraded to accommodate facilities supporting offshore wind projects. The resolution will create the necessary conditions for Klaipeda State Seaport Authority to invest in port infrastructure, which would be used for the production, assembly and storage of wind turbine parts and other components. Some 47% of all newly built dry bulkers delivered in 2020 are fitted with exhaust gas cleaning systems, known as scrubbers, data from BIMCO shows. Some 40 containers of the estimated 1,900 boxes damaged or lost from ONE Apus containership earlier this week are believed to contain dangerous cargo, Ocean Network Express said in the latest update. The vessel was en route from Yantian, China to Long Beach, USA approximately 1,600 nautical miles North West of Hawaii on November 30, when it encountered a violent storm cell producing gale-force winds and large swells which caused the ONE Apus to roll heavily resulting in the dislodging of the lost containers. ... A giant section of the Golden Ray wreck has been cut and lifted onto a barge, marking a major milestone in the removal of the capsized car carrier from St. Simons Sound near the Port of Brunswick. Responders lifted the section using ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene slings that are as strong as steel at a fraction of the weight on November 30.
