Japanese shipping major Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) aims to improve its CO2 emissions efficiency by 50 percent by 2030 compared to 2008 levels, the company revealed announcing revision of its environmental vision for 2050. A consortium comprising C-Job Naval Architects, LISA, SeaZip Offshore Service, Sea Machines, MARIN, and eL-Tec elektrotechnologie has unveiled a concept design for an Autonomous Guard Vessel (AGV), to be used for surveillance of offshore wind infrastructure, from wind farms to substation platforms and cable routes. Honolulu-based container carrier Matson christened the second of two Kanaloa Class vessels in a ceremony held at the NASSCO shipyard in San Diego, CA on Thursday, July 2, 2020.  The new Matsonia is the second of two new ships built for Matson by NASSCO at a total cost of approximately $500 million for the pair, and the fourth of four new vessels that Matson will put into service during 2018, 2019 and 2020. Hong Kong-based dry bulk shipping company Pacific Basin revealed a one-off non-cash impairment charge of $198 million on the group’s Handysize core fleet. The impairment charge relates to primarily its smaller and older Handysize vessels and will be reflected in its unaudited consolidated results for the first half of 2020.
