The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has issued a direction ordering the owner of APL England to search for missing containers that were lost from the vessel off New South Wales last month.
The direction also orders the owner to recover containers as agreed with AMSA.

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has partnered with a climate solutions provider South Pole to develop the MSC Carbon Neutral Programme.
The deal comes on the back of a similar program implemented in 2019 in selected countries, which is now being extended worldwide throughout 2020.

Italian classification society RINA has carried out what it claims to be the world’s first statutory and associated class intermediate surveys with the use of remote technologies on the bulk carrier Cielo di Gaspesie, owned by the d’Amico Group.

Giant very large ore carrier Stellar Banner, owned by Polaris Shipping from Korea, has been scuttled off the Brazilian coast after an inspection of the ship’s hull found the ship to be unseaworthy.
“Following an extensive inspection by the classification society and the surveyors, the structural integrity of the hull was been declared unseaworthy. Towing the vessel to shore presented significant safety concerns,” Polaris Shipping confirmed to our publication.... [Read More]

Dublin-based maritime transportation group Irish Continental Group (ICG) has terminated a contract with German shipbuilder Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) for the construction of a new vessel for ICG’s subsidiary Irish Ferries.

The APM Terminals Rotterdam container terminal has ordered a fleet of 16 diesel-electric Konecranes Noell straddle carriers.
Konecranes said that the order was secured in March and that the straddle cranes would be delivered and handed over by the end of September 2020.
