More than 40% of vessels were suffering from over 10% hard fouling coverage on the hull even before the idling of fleets due to COVID-19, analysis of hull fouling collection data in a new research commissioned by Swedish biotechnology company I-Tech AB shows.
I-Tech contracted independent marine coating consultants, Safinah Group, to analyse underwater hull fouling condition on a sample of 249 ships which drydocked over a four-year period between 2015-2019.

Owner and operator of dry bulk vessels GoodBulk is joining its industry peers in securing refinancing and reducing cash break-even levels.
The company has received credit committee approval from its banks for a loan of $200 million to refinance the full amounts outstanding under five of its six existing facilities for approximately the same total amount.

Kuraray MICROFADE II Ballast Water Treatment System consists of filtration with chemical injection treatment at uptake and neutralization during discharge.

Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), the biggest shipbuilder in South Korea, has decided to integrate its shipbuilding and offshore business divisions and scale back the organisation by about 20 per cent.
The reorganisation plan will be implemented from 1 July 2020, HHI said in a statement.
