NEW ORLEANS -- A good Samaritan recovered the body of a missing person in the water and transferred the body to Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office near Donaldsonville, Tuesday.
Dead is Ambarish Parekh, 69, of LaPlace, Louisiana.
Parekh was reported to have fallen off a crew boat while transiting to another vessel. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt and long pants with a personal flotation device on the lower Mississippi River near mile marker 179.

JUNEAU, Alaska - A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka aircrew medevaced a man from a charter vessel in Snipe Bay south of Sitka, Alaska, Tuesday.
The Air Station Sitka helicopter crew hoisted the man and transported him to Sitka where he was met by awaiting emergency medical services personnel.
Coast Guard Sector Juneau command center watchstanders received a medevac request from the captain aboard the Sapphire Blue for a 69-year-old man reportedly suffering heart problems. The duty flight surgeon was consulted and recommended the medevac.

WARRENTON, Ore., — The Coast Guard coordinated the rescue of a sailor in distress more than 990 miles west of the Columbia River by utilizing the Automated Mutual-Assistance Vessel Rescue system, Tuesday. Responding to the AMVER request, the crew of the 1,098-foot container ship Oocl Utah altered their course to retrieve the distressed sailor, safely took him aboard the ship and is currently transporting him to their next port of call in Busan, South Korea.... NEW YORK — Coast Guard crews are enforcing a safety zone on the Hudson River around the Tappan Zee Bridge after a crane collapsed Tuesday afternoon. At approximately 12:15 p.m., Tuesday, Coast Guard Sector New York received a report of a partial crane collapse across the western end of the Tappan Zee Bridge, which has closed the roadway to traffic for an undetermined period of time. A crane operator was safely recovered from the water by a Westchester County Marine unit after the collapse.... [Read More]

BOSTON — The Coast Guard responded to a grounded fishing vessel in Woods Hole Pass near Woods Hole, Mass., July 18, 2016.
At approximately 11:45 a.m., Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England received a VHF-FM Channel 16 radio call from the 67-foot stern trawler fishing vessel, Hope & Sydney, that they were hard aground in Woods Hole Pass.
Minutes after receiving the call, a 45-foot Coast Guard rescue boat from Station Woods Hole was launched and members of the Buzzards Bay Marine Task Force were notified. ... [Read More]

A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew rescued an injured hiker on the south slope of the Olympic Mountain in Washington, July 18, 2016.
The hiker, who reportedly suffered a broken ankle, was transported to an Olympia, Wash., airport where he was met by emergency medical services for further medical care.

BALTIMORE — The Coast Guard rescued one person from the water in Isle of Wight Bay in Ocean City, Maryland, Monday.
A Coast Guard crew aboard a 24-foot Special Purpose Craft-Shallow Water was transiting through Isle Of Wight Bay near the Route 50 bridge when they came upon two people in the water who had fallen from a jet ski.
One person was safely recovered from the water into the 24-foot SPC-SW, and the other person safely swam to shore.
Both jet skiers were wearing lifejackets. No injuries were reported.... [Read More]

BALTIMORE — The Coast Guard suspended its search for the missing boater in the upper Potomac River near Mount Vernon, Virginia, at noon today.
Participating in the search was the Coast Guard, Charles County, Maryland, Fire Department; Alexandria, Virginia, Fire Department; Prince George's County, Maryland, Fire Department; Maryland Natural Resources Police; Fairfax County, Virginia, Fire Department; and the National Park Service.
Search and rescue crews covered approximately 11 square nautical miles since the multi-agency search began at approximately 5 p.m. Sunday.... [Read More]
