BOSTON — The Coast Guard is searching Tuesday for an overdue kayaker in the vicinity of the Jones River in Kingston. Missing is Michael Rafferty, 43, of Kingston. Rafferty was last seen departing his residence aboard his kayak into the Jones River Monday at about 4:30 p.m. His girlfriend reported him missing when he did not return home Monday night. A helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, the Massachusetts State Police, and the Kingston, Plymouth, and Duxbury harbormasters are searching for Rafferty.... [Read More]

PORT ARTHUR, Texas — Vessel traffic on the Neches River is restricted as a result of a shrimp boat that sank Monday morning. At approximately 3 a.m., the Captain Kevin sank in the Neches River, causing oil sheen and one minor injury. The vessel is currently located approximately 1500 feet from the end of the channel and 100 feet from the west side of the jetty. MIAMI – The Coast Guard rescued six people Sunday from a sinking boat about one mile east of Lake Worth. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Miami received a report of a 20-foot boat taking on water and launched a 33-foot Special Purpose Craft boat crew from Coast Guard Station Lake Worth Inlet to assist. MILWAUKEE – The U.S. Coast Guard, the Washington Park Lifeguard Team and LaPorte County emergency medical services rescued a 17-year-old male in Lake Michgian near Michigan City, Indiana, Sunday. The man’s name and hometown are not being released and there is no Coast Guard imagery available. SEATTLE- The captain of the port, Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound, issued two notices of violation, Wednesday, with proposed penalties of $2,500 each to two men who intentionally jumped off the passenger vessel, Spirit of Seattle.
