PHILADELPHIA - In an effort to prevent tragedies over the course of the summer, the Coast Guard and New Jersey State Police would like to remind boaters, jet skiers, canoeists and kayakers alike of a few rules and guidelines which should help prevent any incident and increase survivability if one takes place.

PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. — The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Confidence is scheduled to return to their homeport Friday in Port Canaveral following a 54-day patrol.
During their patrol, the crew of the Confidence interdicted 8,200 pounds of marijuana worth $7.4 million and detained four individuals suspected of drug trafficking for prosecution.... [Read More]

PHILADELPHIA — The Coast Guard medevaced a boater who was experiencing heart attack like symptoms near Barnegat Light, New Jersey, Friday morning .

HONOLULU — The Coast Guard suspended the search at sunset Thursday for 3 fishermen who went missing when their vessel capsized off the North Shore of Oahu, Sunday.Jensen Loo, Clint Oshima and Derek Tomas remain missing."To suspend an active search and rescue case without definitive resolution is one of the most difficult decisions to make," said Capt. MILWAUKEE — The United States Coast Guard reminds boaters that all recreational and pleasure boats must carry one wearable life jacket for each person aboard; otherwise their voyages may be ended.
With the summer boating season well underway, responders at Coast Guard Sector Lake Michigan, located in Milwaukee, have seen a large number of recreational boats on Lake Michigan not carrying the required number of wearable life jackets on board.... [Read More]

The aluminum boat is approximately 18 to 20-feet in length with no markings, engine or equipment onboard. There is light marine growth on the hull.... [Read More]

NEWPORT, Ore. – The Coast Guard assisted local responders in medevacing a hiker, off a cliffside near Yachats, who reportedly suffered a broken ankle, Wednesday morning.An MH-65 Dolphin aircrew from Air Facility Newport hoisted the injured hiker and transferred the man to emergency medical services who transported the man to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport. A Yachats Fire and Rescue crew that was on-scene with the injured hiker contacted Coast Guard Sector North Bend watchstanders and requested assistance, due to rising surf conditions in the area....
