The Coast Guard is responding to reports of several missing people and capsized vessels near Mobile Bay, Saturday. Coast Guard Sector Mobile received the report at approximately 4:30 p.m. that a sailing regatta in Mobile Bay was struck by severe weather causing multiple vessels to capsize leaving multiple people on the water. ALAMEDA, Calif. — A Coast Guardsman retired after 30 years of service as the chief of staff for the 11th Coast Guard District during a retirement ceremony on Coast Guard Island in Alameda Friday. Capt. Kelly L. Hatfield served as the chief of staff for the 11th District since June 2013. CHARLESTON, S.C. — One person was killed and two people were injured when a boat ran aground on Shutes Folly off Charleston, South Carolina, late Thursday evening.  One man was killed after being ejected from the vessel.  Two female passengers were treated for injuries and were taken to the Medical University of South Carolina. FRIPP ISLAND, S.C. — A Coast Guard aircrew hoisted three people after their boat became grounded near Fripp Island, Wednesday.  Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Charleston received the initial report at approximately 6:30 p.m., stating that three teenagers, ages 21, 19 and 16, were stranded on their grounded boat, which was becoming unstable in the wind.
