WILMINGTON, N.C. — The crew of Coast Guard Cutter Kodiak Island out of Atlantic Beach, North Carolina, in cooperation with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, helped release 19 rehabilitated sea turtles Dec. 15, off the North Carolina coast.
A North Carolina Aquarium employee, NCWRC employee and family of the Coast Guard crew joined the voyage where species of turtle including Kemp's ridley, green and one loggerhead sea turtle were released near the Gulf Stream approximately 40 miles south of Beaufort.... [Read More]

NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard, state and local agencies responded to a report of a missing duck hunter in the vicinity of South Pass on the lower Mississippi River, Thursday.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report of the missing hunter and directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew, and a Coast Guard Station Venice rescue boat crew at 9:17 p.m., Wednesday.

MIAMI — Coast Guard search-and-rescue crews are searching for a missing diver five nautical miles south of Key West, Florida, Saturday afternoon.
Missing is Jim Bakazan, 50, wearing a black wet suit.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Key West received the report from the motor vessel Dream after Bakazan went missing while diving on the wreck of the USS Vandenburg. HONOLULU — The Coast Guard suspended the search Thursday for the master of the 622-foot freight ship Toscana reported overboard approximately 60 miles east of Wake Island.
"We have exhausted all available resources in our efforts, but pending further developments, we have decided to suspend the active search," said Michael Cobb, command duty officer at the Joint Rescue Coordination Center Honolulu.
