  Crewmembers from Coast Guard Station Saginaw River, located in Essexvile, Mich., transfer a man who had fallen through the ice with his snowmobile on Saginaw Bay near Pinconning, Mich., from a rescue sled into an airboat Monday, March 16, 2015. The crew rescued the man, who was in the beginning stages of hypothermia, and took him to shore where he was evaluated by emergency medical services and released. ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. —The Coast Guard wants to remind mariners to have the proper safety equipment aboard their boats after a busy weekend in the Tampa Bay area. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg responded to 12 search and rescue calls over the weekend. The majority of the boaters did not have the proper safety equipment aboard their boats.... [Read More]

MUSKEGON, Mich., — The Coast Guard is urging people to stay away and off of ice, and to remain at a safe distance from ice formations, especially the ice caves that have formed along Lake Michigan in Muskegon. The Coast Guard is also urging people to remain clear of shorelines, piers, jetties, rocks, walkways and jogging paths that may have become covered in layers of ice. ... [Read More]

At 6:40 p.m. watchstanders from Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg received a report of a Good Samaritan towing a flooding 20-foot boat near St. Petersburg. BALTIMORE — The Coast Guard rescued a man from the water Sunday in Duvall Creek in Annapolis. Local police contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Baltimore at about 10:15 a.m. to report a sailboat capsized, leaving one person in the water. The man in the water initially used his cell phone to call 911. A 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station Annapolis was already underway and diverted to respond to the distress. PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard responded to a ferry that ran aground Saturday approximately one mile south of Ocracoke, North Carolina. MIAMI - The Coast Guard is involved in two separate cases, each involving a male being swept to sea by rip currents in South Florida Saturday. Coast Guard Sector Miami was notified of a 15-year old male who was swept to sea in North Palm Beach, Florida, near McArthur State Park. First responders from Coast Guard Station Marquette, Mich., Marquette City Fire Department and Marquette County Sherriff's Office prepare to bring a fisherman safely back to shore after he fell through the ice about 300 yards off of Presque Isle Harbor, March 13, 2015.
