KODIAK, Alaska — The Coast Guard rescued a 55-year-old woman who was reported missing approximately 85 miles north of Sitka, Alaska, Saturday.

NEW LONDON, Conn. — President Barack Obama is scheduled to deliver the keynote address during the U.S. Coast Guard Academy’s 134th Commencement Exercises on Wednesday, May 20.
Commencement is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on Cadet Memorial Field at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
Presidents traditionally address the graduating class at one of the federal service academies on a rotating basis. President Obama addressed the U.S. Military Academy Class of 2014 at West Point last year.

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands — The commander of U.S. Coast Guard Sector San Juan announced the stationing of four 33-Special Purpose Craft Law-Enforcement boats in the U.S. Virgin Islands during a press conference Friday at Marine Safety Detachment Saint Thomas.

ALAMEDA, Calif. — A pair of good Samaritan sail vessels located a sailboat in distress with two Canadian crewmembers aboard nearly 2,000 miles west southwest of the Galapagos Islands Wednesday.
At 10:24 p.m. Tuesday watchstanders at the 11th Coast Guard District Command Center received notification from a ham radio operator that the 42-foot Nirvana Now was disabled and became unstable. WARRENTON, Ore. — Coast Guard crews and good Samaritans responded to a mayday call and aided the crew of a sinking 32-foot fishing vessel 20 miles southwest of Yaquina Bay, Wednesday.
A 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew from Station Yaquina Bay in Newport escorted the fishing vessel Apache 4 to Yaquina Bay after multiple crews worked to identify the source of the flooding, secure it and dewater the vessel.... [Read More]

NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard has suspended the search for a missing towboat deckhand near Osceola, Arkansas, Wednesday April 8, 2015.
Coast Guard Sector Lower Mississippi River watchstanders received a report, at 3:53 a.m., Tuesday that a deckhand reportedly fell overboard from the towing vessel Joe Ellis into the Mississippi River at the Mid River Terminal dock around mile marker 782.

FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla.—The Coast Guard rescued a 70-year-old man from the water in Hurricane Bay, Florida, Wednesday.
Watchstanders from Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach received a report from Lee County Sheriff’s office dispatch stating a 70-year-old man was in the water clinging to a boat and in need of emergency medical assistance. The man was reported not wearing a life jacket.
A 29-foot Response Boat-Small II boatcrew was launched, arrived on scene and pulled the man from the water. The man was transported to the station where EMS awaited.... [Read More]

SEATTLE — The Captain of the Port, Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound, issued a $5,000 civil penalty, Friday, to a Washington State Ferry passenger who intentionally jumped overboard prior to the vessel departure from the Bremerton ferry terminal.
On March 21, an adult male passenger aboard the Washington State Ferry Kaleetan intentionally jumped overboard, sustained significant injuries and was recovered by ferry crewmembers aboard a rescue boat.... [Read More]

Boston, Mass. – The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) is excited to announce that it will begin sponsoring the sport of football starting in the 2017 season.
