PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Today, the Coast Guard formally accepted delivery of the fifth National Security Cutter, James, at a ceremony in Pascagoula, Mississippi.
“Following much anticipation after the keel laying in 2013, Ingalls Shipbuilding has delivered a great and highly mission-capable cutter to the Coast Guard today,” said Capt. Andrew J. ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew deployed aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Sherman medevaced a crewmember from the DS Patriot, a 996-foot long container vessel, approximately 58 miles southeast of Dutch Harbor Wednesday night.
Watchstanders from Marine Safety Unit Dutch Harbor received an email from the crew of the DS Patriot requesting the medevac of a 33-year-old man reportedly suffering symptoms of pneumonia.... [Read More]

SEATTLE — Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound investigating officers initiated civil penalties, Friday, against four individuals who entered an established safety-zone around a Shell-contracted vessel in Bellingham during Memorial Day weekend.
Cody Erdman, Chiara D’Angelo, Paul Adler and Matthew Fuller were cited in accordance with Code of Federal Regulations for entry into or staying in a federally-regulated safety zone between May 22 and 24.... [Read More]

JUNEAU, Alaska — The Coast Guard medevaced an 85-year-old man from the cruise ship Grand Princess in Gastineau Channel Wednesday evening.
The captain of the Grand Princess contacted Sector Juneau watchstanders requesting a medevac for the man who was suffering from symptoms of a stroke.
Watchstanders launched a 45-foot Response Boat – Medium crew from Station Juneau to meet the Grand Princess and transfer the man to emergency medical personnel on shore. The man was transported by ambulance to Bartlett Regional Hospital in Juneau.... [Read More]

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coast Guard seized a Mexican fishing boat, also known as a lancha, in the waters off South Texas, Monday.
At 11 p.m. Sunday, an Air Station Corpus Christi aircrew aboard an HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane located a lancha 20 miles north of the U.S./Mexico maritime border and 30 miles offshore.... [Read More]

NEW ORLEANS - The Coast Guard is responding to a ruptured pipeline on the Arkansas River, Tuesday.
Watchstanders with Coast Guard Sector Lower Mississippi River received a report from Jeffery Sand Company Monday of an incident at mile marker 117.3 of the Arkansas River involving the report of damage to the port side of the motor vessel Chris M and a ruptured pipe line.
Sector Lower Mississippi River responded by deploying two pollution investigators. No visible pollution on the water was found at the time of the on scene investigation.... [Read More]
