BALTIMORE — The Coast Guard assisted 4 people on a vessel taking on water Wednesday near Ocean City Inlet.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Ocean City received a report at approximately 11 a.m. of a 25-foot boat taking on water with 4 people aboard.
Station Ocean City launched a 24-foot Special Purpose Craft-Shallow Water boat crew to respond.
Once on scene, Coast Guard crew members assisted with dewatering efforts and escorted the vessel to West Ocean City Boat Ramp.

NEW YORK — Routine Coast Guard safety boardings in Long Island Sound and the greater New York area have shown an increase in the number of boats operating without proper safety equipment.
With the summer boating season in full swing, the Coast Guard has observed an uptick in vessel traffic in Long Island Sound and off the coast of New York.

LOS ANGELES —Coast Guard members from Station Channel Islands Harbor assisted members of the California Wildlife Commission to release two rehabilitated elephant seal pups back into the wild near Santa Cruz Island on July 12, 2016.
The elephant seal pups were being treated at the California Wildlife Center’s rehabilitation site for seals, located in Calabasas near Malibu. The pups were picked up in March after failing to thrive in their natural environment following birth. ... [Read More]

BOSTON — The Coast Guard has suspended its search Tuesday evening for a swimmer that was reported to have gone missing near Biddeford Pool, Maine.
The Coast Guard was notified at approximately 3:45 p.m. of the possible missing swimmer and began searching along with local agencies.
The search was suspended pending further development at around 8:45 p.m. after crews saturated the search area for approximately five hours.... [Read More]

WARRENTON, Ore. — A Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew out of Air Station Port Angeles assisted the Olympic National Park rangers in the rescue of an injured hiker near Toleak Point, Washington, Tuesday. The 20-year-old man, who suffered injuries from a 15-foot fall, was met at the beach by the helicopter crew and taken to the Olympic Medical Center for further medical care. BOSTON — The Coast Guard and partner agencies are searching for a missing swimmer Tuesday near Biddeford Pool, Maine after he was reported to have entered the water from the shore and not re-emerge.
The Coast Guard was notified at approximately 3:45 p.m. by a bystander who witnessed a man in a red bathing suit enter the water and swim for about 15 minutes before going missing.

BOSTON — A Coast Guard rescue crew medevaced a fisherman Tuesday morning after he was bitten on the arm by a dogfish 16 miles east of Cape Ann.
At about 10 a.m. watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Boston’s command center received a VHF-16 radio call from the captain of the 26-foot fishing boat Miss Molly reporting he had been bitten by a dogfish while fishing alone.
