MILWAUKEE — The Coast Guard is reminding swimmers, kayakers, canoeists and paddle boarders, Friday, to swim and paddle safely and responsibly along Lake Michigan and to take reports of in hazardous beach conditions seriously.

HONOLULU — A joint search for two pilots from a small plane reportedly downed off the Kona coast continues, Friday.
Currently searching are a Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew, the crew of the USCGC Galveston Island (WPB-1349), a Navy MH-60R helicopter off the USS Chung Hoon (DDG-93) and a Royal New Zealand Air Force P3K2 Orion airplane. MIAMI — The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Kathleen Moore repatriated 12 Cuban migrants Tuesday and another 21 Cuban migrants Friday to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba.
These repatriations are a result of four separate migrant interdictions at sea within the last week in the south Florida Straits. In each instance, the Coast Guard helped secure the U.S. border and prevented these sea voyages from ending in tragedy.... [Read More]

SAVANNAH, Ga. — The crew of Coast Guard Air Station Savannah hosted a change-of-command ceremony Friday at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah.
During the ceremony, Capt. John Rivers transferred command to Cmdr. J. Marshall Branch.

ALAMEDA, Calif. - Coast Guard crews assisted three people aboard the Senile, a 35-foot vessel, after the boat's captain reported a loss of steering, reduction in propulsion and experiencing heavy weather approximately 40 miles northwest of Noyo River, Calif., Thursday.
The Senile's captain contacted Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay command center watchstanders at 6:04 a.m., Thursday, requesting assistance.... [Read More]

WARRENTON, Ore. — A Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew rescued two boaters after their pleasure craft began taking on water and sank 10 miles north of Port Townsend, Washington, Thursday. SAULT STE MARIE, Mich. — Coast Guard Sector Sault Saint Marie, its small boat station in Marquette, Michigan, along with Air Station Traverse City, Michigan, were busy Wednesday with reports of capsized vessels and more than 30 unmanned adrift kayaks in Lake Superior.

DULUTH, Minn. — Coast Guard, federal, state and local first responders are responding to pollution threats from flooding in Saxon Harbor, Wisconsin, along the shore of Lake Superior, Wednesday.
Initial reports indicate a number of damaged and sunken boats in the area.

JUNEAU, Alaska — A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Forward Operating Location Kotzebue rescued a 70-year-old man who was injured while operating an all terrain vehicle approximately 34 miles northeast of Nome, Alaska, Thursday.

HOUSTON — The Houston Ship Channel was reopened between the Lynchburg Ferry Crossing and Carpenters Bayou at 2:40 p.m. after a benzene spill on the tanker Maritime Jingan's deck Thursday afternoon.
At approximately 12 p.m., Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a call from Vopak Terminal personnel that benzene had been spilled on the Maritime Jingan and that the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department had also been notified. The channel was closed at 12:23 p.m.... [Read More]
