SEATTLE — A Coast Guard boatcrew from Station Port Angeles rescued two people from a 49-foot sailboat beset by weather about one mile east of the New Dungeness Lighthouse, Tuesday afternoon.
A 40-year-old man and 26-year-old woman, both wearing life jackets and reportedly exhibiting signs of seasickness and hypothermia, were transferred to EMS at John Wayne Marina in Port Angeles at about 12:50 p.m.... [Read More]

SEATTLE — A Coast Guard boatcrew from Station Port Angeles rescued two people from a 49-foot sailboat beset by weather about one mile east of the New Dungeness Lighthouse, Tuesday afternoon.

SAULT STE MARIE, Michigan – The Coast Guard is teaming up with members from two dozen agencies for a full-scale mass-rescue exercise in Waiska Bay in Brimley, Michigan, Saturday.The joint exercise involves a simulated aircraft crash into Waiska Bay near Bay Mills Point, designed to test coordinated emergency response and provides the participating agencies the opportunity to evaluate the coordination between multi-agency and multi-jurisdictional response plans for mass-rescue operations in a cold weather/ice rescue environment.... NEW YORK- Coast Guard crewmembers assisted in towing a 58-foot commercial fishing vessel after it became disabled Saturday about 50 nautical miles south of Shinnecock Inlet.
Watchstanders at Sector Long Island Sound command center received notification at approximately 7 P.M Saturday night that the fishing vessel Bookie was disabled and adrift with four mariners aboard.... [Read More]

Joshua Peterson, a rescued survivor, and Deputy Terry L. Brown, Polk County Oregon Sheriff's Office, share a few thoughts about the rescue that brought them together in June 2014, after an award ceremony held at Coast Guard Station Chetco River in Brookings, Ore., Feb. 29, 2016.
Brown was presented with the Gold Life Saving Medal for his heroic efforts in saving Peterson from drowning near Harris Beach.

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard has located the man believed to be lost near the Chandeleur Islands in Louisiana, Monday.
Thanh Tran was believed to be lost on the ICW between Abbeville, Louisiana and Biloxi, Mississippi after last being seen on the fishing vessel Tina H in Abbeville, Tuesday.
A Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station New Orleans spotted the Tina H anchored west of the Chandeleur Islands and hoisted Tran and the other crewmember, returning them to the air station.
No injuries were reported.
