SAN FRANCISCO — The National Weather Service has issued a Gale Warning for the offshore and inland waters of the greater San Francisco Bay Area. The warning is in effect from Saturday starting at 10 p.m. until Sunday at 6 a.m. An approaching cold front storm is expected to produce strong winds up to 45 knots, and heavy surf up to 15 feet. ST. LOUIS – The Mississippi River is reopened near Granite City, Illinois, after clean-up operations at Lock and Dam 27 were completed, Friday. An auxiliary lock was opened at the Lock and Dam 27 site for commerce to continue. The towing vessel Gregory David was transiting the lock and dam, and was damaged, rupturing a tank with approximately 20,000 gallons of fuel aboard.
