ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.—The Coast Guard and partner agencies will be enforcing a temporary safety zone in the St. Petersburg Municipal Yacht Basin during the Grand Prix this weekend.
The temporary safety zone will be in effect extending out to 300 feet from the basin sea wall of St. Petersburg Municipal Yacht Basin. The zone will be in place to protect personnel and vessels from the danger associated with a hot race course in close proximity to the water.... [Read More]

HONOLULU — The Coast Guard is responding to a report of three fishermen abandoning ship from the 41-foot fishing vessel Vicious Cycle approximately 161 miles southwest of Kona, Hawai'i, Friday.
The USCGC Alex Haley (WMEC 39), homeported in Kodiak, Alaska, was diverted from their course back to Alaska and is currently en route to the scene along an MH-60R helicopter crew from Navy Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron Thirty-Seven in Kaneohe Bay, Oahu, and the good Samaritan crew of the fishing vessel Princess K. ... SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – The crew of a Coast Guard helicopter rescued two stranded boaters Thursday after their 34-foot sailing vessel, Sea Angel, ran aground Tuesday on Playa Mujeres Beach on Mona Island, Puerto Rico.
Rescued are two U.S. citizens from Hayes and Hartfield Va., who reported running aground at approximately 11:45p.m. Tuesday after they were exposed to 20-25 knot winds, eight to nine foot seas and currents that pushed the sailing vessel to the southwest corner of Mona Island.... [Read More]

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Coast Guard announced on Thursday the appointments of the chairman and seven members to serve on the 21-member National Boating Safety Advisory Council (NBSAC).
Dr. L. Daniel Maxim will serve as chairman of the NBSAC. Maxim has been a member of the NBSAC since 2011 and is also a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. He is the former assistant national commodore, recreational boating safety.

SEATTLE — Three commercial fishing vessels operating throughout Puget Sound were ordered to return to port Wednesday after Coast Guard boarding teams discovered multiple safety violations.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — The Coast Guard transferred nine Dominican and nine Cuban migrants to the Dominican Republic Navy Tuesday, in waters approximately three nautical miles south of La Romana, Dominican Republic.

CLEVELAND — The U.S. Coast Guard has ended its active search Tuesday night in western Lake Erie near Turtle Island, Ohio, for a missing man who was expected back Monday night and did not return.
Missing is 35 year old Brenton Burton of Toledo, Ohio.
