PADUCAH, Ky. – The unified command in Paducah continues to respond to a spill in the Mississippi River at mile marker 937, Wednesday.   The APEX 3508 barge has begun transit to National Maintenance and Repair in Hartford, Illinois for repairs.    Preparations for clean up efforts have begun near the initial incident site to remove the submerged clarified slurry oil.   The cause of the incident is under investigation by the Coast Guard and the National Transportation Safety Board. ... MIAMI — Sixty-four Cuban migrants aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Kathleen Moore were repatriated to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba, Monday. This repatriation is a result of five separate migrant interdictions at sea in the south Florida Straits. These events were Cubans trying to illegally enter the United States on unseaworthy vessels commonly referred to as "rustics" or "chugs." LOS ANGELES — The Coast Guard has suspended the active search efforts for a missing person near Point Sal State Beach at 7:22p.m., Monday. At 4:32 p.m., Sunday, watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach Command Center received a report that a man was swept off the beach, submerged under water and did not resurface.
