CLEVELAND -- The Coast Guard rescued two people from a pontoon boat in distress near Cedar Point Marina Friday evening. A watchstander at Coast Guard Sector Detroit received a report from a good Samaritan at 5 p.m. that the boat was taking on water in four- to six-foot seas just east of the Cedar Point breakwall. There is no Coast Guard imagery available and the Coast Guard is not releasing names of the people rescued.... [Read More]

BOSTON — The Coast Guard responded to a report of a woman falling overboard off the cruise ship Seabourn Quest, 10 miles off Cape Ann Friday. Coast Guard Sector Boston watchstanders received a call from the cruise ship Seabourn Quest via radio channel VHF-16 at approximately 7 p.m. of a person having fallen overboard. PHILADELPHIA — The Coast Guard suspended its search Friday for a missing pilot whose plane crashed Thursday seven miles southeast of Atlantic City. "Due to the amount of time that has elapsed since the plane crash and the information we have gathered from our searches, we made the difficult decision to suspend active search efforts pending further developments," said Capt. WARRENTON, Ore. — The Coast Guard is searching for two confirmed people in the area north and south of the North Jetty of Grays Harbor, Washington, Friday after a 20-foot Boston Whaler was found capsized 30 yards offshore and in the surf zone Thursday evening. SAVANNAH, Ga. — Two missing boaters were rescued by the Coast Guard Friday morning on the southern shore of Pine Island, Georgia. Neither of the two boaters reported having serious injuries. Ronnie Hardin and Jonna Brian, both adults, were rescued by a boat crew from Coast Guard Station Tybee Island, Georgia, when a grounded vessel that matched the description of the missing boat was discovered.
