CLEVELAND -- The Coast Guard rescued two people from a pontoon boat in distress near Cedar Point Marina Friday evening.
A watchstander at Coast Guard Sector Detroit received a report from a good Samaritan at 5 p.m. that the boat was taking on water in four- to six-foot seas just east of the Cedar Point breakwall.
There is no Coast Guard imagery available and the Coast Guard is not releasing names of the people rescued.... [Read More]

The Coast Guard and local authorities picked this boat up off a beach near Ocean Shores, Wash., after it capsized with two people aboard and washed ashore, Sept. 10, 2015.
The incident involving this boat launched a 24-hour search around Grays Harbor for two missing adults.

BOSTON — The Coast Guard responded to a report of a woman falling overboard off the cruise ship Seabourn Quest, 10 miles off Cape Ann Friday.
Coast Guard Sector Boston watchstanders received a call from the cruise ship Seabourn Quest via radio channel VHF-16 at approximately 7 p.m. of a person having fallen overboard.
A 47-Motor Life Boat crew from Station Gloucester, the crew of the 270-foot Coast Guard Cutter Campbell, a MH-60 Jayhawk crew from Air Station Cape Cod, and the Rockport Harbormaster all responded and searched the area.... [Read More]

VICKSBURG, Miss. - The Coast Guard closed the Mississippi River in response to barges breaking away from their tow near Vicksburg, Thursday.
The waterway is closed from MM 469 to MM 459.
Southbound vessels have been allowed to transit during daylight hours. Northbound vessels will be allowed to transit at 7 p.m.
The current queue is six northbound vessels.

PHILADELPHIA — The Coast Guard suspended its search Friday for a missing pilot whose plane crashed Thursday seven miles southeast of Atlantic City.
"Due to the amount of time that has elapsed since the plane crash and the information we have gathered from our searches, we made the difficult decision to suspend active search efforts pending further developments," said Capt. WARRENTON, Ore. — The Coast Guard is searching for two confirmed people in the area north and south of the North Jetty of Grays Harbor, Washington, Friday after a 20-foot Boston Whaler was found capsized 30 yards offshore and in the surf zone Thursday evening.
The vessel was determined to be registered to a 68 year-old male from Olympia, Washington. Olympia Police conducted a welfare check with negative results but were able to contact neighbors who stated that he was on a fishing trip with a female.... [Read More]

CAPE MAY, N.J. – Members of U.S. Coast Guard Training Center Cape May stopped to remember the anniversary of the Sept., 2001 attacks by holding a brief ceremony on the parade field, Friday.
The ceremony included a speech from the commanding officer, Capt. Todd Prestidge, a prayer from the Chaplain, Cmdr. SAVANNAH, Ga. — Two missing boaters were rescued by the Coast Guard Friday morning on the southern shore of Pine Island, Georgia.
Neither of the two boaters reported having serious injuries.
Ronnie Hardin and Jonna Brian, both adults, were rescued by a boat crew from Coast Guard Station Tybee Island, Georgia, when a grounded vessel that matched the description of the missing boat was discovered.
