PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard and Virginia Marine Resources Commission are searching for an 80-year-old man Sunday in the water near Winter Harbor Haven. The man is thought to have entered the water when his fishing vessel capsized near Winter Harbor while he was gill net fishing Saturday.A good Samaritan discovered the man’s 15-foot boat capsized Saturday about 200-yards off the beach east of Winter Harbor and notified Mathews County dispatchers, who then notified the Coast Guard and VMRC at approximately 8:20 p.m.... LOS ANGELES — The Coast Guard suspended the search for a missing boater near Catalina Island a quarter-mile northeast of Casino Point at about 7 p.m., Sunday. At 1:21a.m., Sunday, watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles Long Beach Command Center received a report from a good Samaritan that a dingy with five people aboard collided with another vessel near Descanso Bay. WARRENTON, Ore. — A Coast Guard aircrew rescued a man from a ravine after he sustained a leg injury near Coos Bay, Sunday. An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station North Bend safely transferred the 23-year-old man to the air station at 4:45 p.m., where they were met by emergency medical personnel.  The man reportedly suffered a leg injury while operating an ATV at Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area.... PADUCAH, Ky. – The unified command in Paducah continues to respond to a spill in the Mississippi River at mile marker 937. Lightering operations on the damaged barge have begun to remove the remaining clarified slurry oil, and arrangements are being made to move the barge out of the area. A safety zone remains in effect from mile marker 936 to mile marker 938. NEW ORLEANS – Crewmembers from Coast Guard Station New Orleans and good Samaritans rescued 35 people from a sinking houseboat on Lake Pontchartrain, Saturday. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a mayday call at 9:26 p.m. from a houseboat that had flooding in the engine room. The houseboat was tied to pilings on the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway when a storm hit. Shoreline assessment crews conducted a scan of the Mississippi River shoreline by small boat and found no visible signs of oil along the riverbank. Vessel traffic on the Mississippi River is now open with restrictions; however, a safety zone is still in effect from mile marker 938-934. U.S. Coast Guard Sector Ohio Valley watchstanders received a call about a collision between two towboats at mile marker 937 at 8:22 p.m. Wednesday.  The collision caused damage to one barge containing clarified slurry oil, rupturing a cargo tank and discharging approximately 120,588 gallons of oil into the Mississippi River....
