The Coast Guard is scheduled to release its first boating safety app Saturday as the kickoff to this year's National Safe Boating Week. The Boating Safety Mobile app was not designed to replace a boater's marine VHF radio, which the Coast Guard strongly recommends all boaters have onboard their vessels. BALTIMORE — The Coast Guard, Coast Guard Auxiliary and Maryland Natural Resource Police are scheduled to kick off National Safe Boating Week at the West Ocean City Boat Ramp Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. A 47-foot Motor Lifeboat from Coast Guard Station Ocean City will be available for public tours. NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — Crewmembers from Coast Guard Station Ponce de Leon Inlet rescued a diver Wednesday approximately 25 miles east of Ponce de Leon Inlet. The diver, a 50-year-old man from Florida, was reported to be in good condition and with no injuries. A boater aboard the Midnight Rocket calls for help after reportedly hitting a navigational buoy on the Columbia River and starting to sink May 12, 2015. The three boaters were able to safely ground their vessel on a beach near Skamokawa, Wash., where they were met by response boat crews from Coast Guard Station Cape Disappointment and then safely taken to Cathlamet where they could arrange vessel salvage services. SAN FRANCISCO — Coast Guard crews rescued three people from a sinking boat in the vicinity of Black Point in San Pablo Bay, Tuesday evening. At approximately 6:12 p.m. Tuesday, watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector San Francisco received a 911 relay from the San Rafael Police Department reporting a vessel taking on water in San Pablo Bay after losing propulsion.
