NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a man from cruise ship approximately 100 miles south of Southwest Pass, Wednesday. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a request from the cruise ship Carnival Triumph to medevac an 84-year-old man suffering heart attack-like symptoms. Vessels will be able to move within the port with no restrictions; however mariners are encouraged to proceed with extreme caution. MIAMI — The Coast Guard is encouraging boaters Tuesday to stay off the water due to Hurricane Matthew extending through Columbus Day. All boaters and beachgoers are encouraged to monitor weather conditions as the hurricane approaches Florida. Adverse weather effects generated by a tropical storm or hurricane can cover an area hundreds of miles wide.
