NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a man from cruise ship approximately 100 miles south of Southwest Pass, Wednesday.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a request from the cruise ship Carnival Triumph to medevac an 84-year-old man suffering heart attack-like symptoms.

MIAMI – The Coast Guard has set Port Condition Zulu north of the Seven Mile Bridge in Key West on Wednesday due to the expectation of sustained gale force winds generated by Hurricane Matthew that may arrive within 12 hours.
Capt. Jeffrey A. Janszen, the Captain of the Port of Key West has set Hurricane Port Condition Zulu which sets a safety zone for the port . NEW YORK - Coast Guard, and partner agency crews ended their search for a missing boater, Wednesday, after a body matching the boaters description was located in the vicinity of East Beach in Old Field, New York.

During this port condition the port will remain closed to all incoming and outgoing vessel traffic until directed by the captain of the port.

MIAMI – Effective 10 a.m. Wednesday, the Coast Guard captain of the port (COTP) set port condition Yankee north of the Seven Mile Bridge in Key West due to the expectation of sustained gale force winds of 25 mph and gusts up to 40 mph generated by Hurricane Matthew that may arrive within 24 hours.
Vessels will be able to move within the port with no restrictions; however mariners are encouraged to proceed with extreme caution. Any requests to arrive or depart the port will be made on a case-by-case basis to be reviewed by the COTP.... [Read More]

NEW YORK - Coast Guard and local partner agency crews are searching for a person in the water after locating an overturned vessel near Port Jefferson Harbor, New York, Tuesday.
Missing is James Bilello a 73-year-old man.

MIAMI — The Coast Guard is encouraging boaters Tuesday to stay off the water due to Hurricane Matthew extending through Columbus Day.
All boaters and beachgoers are encouraged to monitor weather conditions as the hurricane approaches Florida.
Adverse weather effects generated by a tropical storm or hurricane can cover an area hundreds of miles wide. Even recreational boaters and commercial vessels outside of the direct path of the storm are advised to be aware of weather conditions and to take appropriate precautions to stay safe.... [Read More]
