ALAMEDA, Calif. – The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a Canadian sailor seen leaving in Hilo, Hawaii, Aug. 1 by a fellow mariner.
Mr. Paul Lim of Salt Spring Island, British Colombia, reportedly left Hilo bound for Victoria, Canada, aboard the 35-foot Sailing Vessel Watercolour. U.S. Coast Guardsmen estimate Mr. Lim should’ve have arrived in Victoria by approximately Sept. 10 or 11.... [Read More]

WILMINGTON, N.C. — The Coast Guard and a local agency assisted an ailing man on a charter fishing vessel off the North Carolina coast Friday.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector North Carolina received a call via VHF marine radio at 12:23 p.m. stating a 59-year-old man was experiencing chest pains approximately 30 miles southeast of Oregon Inlet on the 55-foot charter fishing vessel Tuna Fever.... [Read More]

MIAMI — The Coast Guard repatriated 232 Cuban migrants to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba, since Sept. 22.
The Coast Guard Cutter Charles Sexton crew repatriated 56 Cuban migrants Sept. 22; the Coast Guard Cutter Isaac Mayo crew repatriated 63 Cuban migrants Saturday; the Sexton crew repatriated 59 Cuban migrants Tuesday; and the Coast Guard Cutter Richard Etheridge crew repatriated 54 Cuban migrants Friday.... BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Good Samaritan boaters aboard the vessel Northern Rose rescued four people from a plane crash in Cattle Pass near the south end of Lopez Island, Friday morning.
The four survivors, one woman and three men, were transported to Friday Harbor by the crew of the Northern Rose and are being treated for injuries and hypothermia by emergency medical services.... [Read More]

EUREKA, Calif. — The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 76-year-old man Thursday from a 964-foot cruise ship approximately 30 miles southwest of Brookings, Ore.
Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay watchstanders received a report at approximately 1:10 p.m., of a 76-year-old male reportedly suffering from internal bleeding on the cruise ship Celebrity Infinity.
Due to the severity of his condition, a Coast Guard duty flight surgeon recommended that the man be taken to a hospital for treatment. ... [Read More]

HOUSTON — A good Samaritan rescued a 70-year-old man after his Hobie Cat sailboat capsized with he and his son aboard about one mile off Sunny Beach in Galveston, Thursday afternoon.
At approximately 3 p.m., a good Samaritan contacted Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders and reported watching the sailboat capsize and seeing the man swimming toward shore. The son was able to right the boat, but his father was already out of sight. ... [Read More]

ALAMEDA, Calif. — The U.S. Coast Guard has released its Major Incident Investigation (MII) Report into a search and rescue response 26-miles south of Maui that resulted in the a death of a civilian mariner aboard the sailing vessel Kolina on Nov. 5, 2015.
The mishap victim was a 71-year-old man, a seasoned mariner, who lived aboard the vessel with the last known address in Kawaihae Boat Park, Honolulu, Hawaii.... [Read More]

A Coast Guard aircrew aboard an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter, from Sector Columbia River, rescued a female hiker, 75, who broke her ankle while hiking Saddle Mountain, which is 20 miles east of Seaside, Ore., Sept. 28, 2016.The aircrew safely hoisted the woman and transferred her to emergency medical services at the Sector Columbia River base in Warrenton.U.S. Coast Guard video by Sector Columbia River.

Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay watchstanders received a report from a good Samaritan of four women who were swept out to sea off Corson Inlet near Strathemere, New Jersey at 7:26 p.m.

SAN FRANCISCO — The Coast Guard, California Department of Fish and Wildlife's Office of Spill Prevention and Response, Army Corps of Engineers, and other partner agencies began pollution removal operations Wednesday for a capsized vessel near Bethel Island.

JUNEAU, Alaska — A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew hoisted two men from the sinking 35-foot sailing vessel Rafiki 230 miles south of Cold Bay, Alaska, early Wednesday morning.
The Jayhawk aircrew then rendezvoused with an Air Station Kodiak HC-130 Hercules aircrew in Sand Point, Alaska. The Hercules crew transported the men to awaiting EMS in Kodiak.... [Read More]

SAN FRANCISCO — The Coast Guard, California Department of Fish and Wildlife's Office of Spill Prevention and Response, Army Corps of Engineers, and other partner agencies are preparing Tuesday to remove a capsized vessel near Bethel Island.
The operations for the Spirit of Sacramento are scheduled to begin Wednesday afternoon with an approximate duration of 24 hours. The salvage operation would involve rotating the vessel via a crane mounted atop a barge and raising the vessel for dewatering.... [Read More]
