LAKE CHARLES, La. — A Coast Guard boat crew assisted two men to shore after their boat became disabled Tuesday morning nearly 2 miles southwest of Holly Beach, which is about 10 miles west of the mouth of Lake Calcasieu.
Around 9 a.m., the captain of the 21-foot bay boat contacted the Cameron Parish Sheriff’s Department with his mobile phone, reporting that his boat's engine fell off and that he was using dewatering pumps to keep up with the incoming water.... [Read More]

BOSTON — The Coast Guard expanded its search Tuesday for two missing boaters near Block Island, Rhode Island to include an area roughly 100 miles south of Montauk, New York.
Initially, at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Coast Guard watchstanders at Sector Southeastern New England received a report that 54-year-old Linda Carman and her 22-year-old son Nathan Carman failed to return from an offshore fishing trip. They departed Ram's Point Marina in Point Judith, Rhode Island Saturday evening in the Chicken Pox, a 32-foot center console boat.... [Read More]

WILMINGTON, N.C. — The Coast Guard has disestablished the aids to navigation in the channel between Ocracoke Ferry Terminal and the Inlet Gorge heading towards Hatteras Inlet in North Carolina.

NEW YORK -- Coast Guard crewmembers are scheduled to enforce security zones on the East River near the United Nations Headquarters beginning Friday.
The security zones scheduled to begin Sept. 16, and continue until Sept. 25, 2016, include all waters of the East River between East 35th Street and the Queensboro/59th Street Bridge.

An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station North Bend, Ore., assists Josephine and Curry County Search and Rescue personnel in medevacing an injured female hiker about 7 miles south of Agness, Sept 18, 2016.
The aircrew safely transferred her to emergency medical personnel waiting at Grants Pass Airport, and then taken to Asante Three River Medical Center, where she was last reported in stable condition.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Coast Guard located a man and woman reported overdue aboard a 34-foot cabin cruiser approximately 36 miles southwest of Juneau in Freshwater Bay Sunday morning.

NEW ORLEANS — A Coast Guard response boat crew medevaced a fisherman near Pensacola, Florida, Sunday.
Coast Guard Station Pensacola received a report at 10:01 a.m. by the fishing vessel, Jesse Ann, that one of their crewmembers suffered a laceration to his hand.
A Coast Guard flight surgeon recommended an immediate medevac.
The 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew transported the patient to Quietwater Pier where he was met by his wife who took him to a local hospital.

SAULT STE MARIE, Michigan — U.S. and Canadian Coast Guard crews are searching the waters of Lake Superior and the Keweenaw Peninsula Sunday for two adults and one child who went missing Saturday night in the vicinity of the East Portage Canal of Houghton-Hancock, Michigan.
The adults' and child’s names are not being released at this time.

SAN FRANCISCO — The Coast Guard is urging boaters and beachgoers to exercise caution in and around the waters along the Northern and Central California coast due to forecasted strong swells on Sunday.
Exceptionally strong rip currents and large shore breaks are anticipated to impact all west and northwest facing beaches from Sonoma County to Monterey County. Strong rip currents are typically more frequent and stronger near jetties, inlets and piers. Swimmers are encouraged to swim near a lifeguard and reminded to use a buddy system.... [Read More]
