PORT ANGELES, Wash. — The Coast Guard is seeking information from the public in locating a suspect or suspects who pointed a green laser light at a Coast Guard helicopter as the aircrew was making a final approach to Air Station Port Angeles, at 8:23 p.m., Monday.
The Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles flight crew aboard, an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter, safely landed after being illuminated for about one second, and were checked out by the duty corpsman who medically cleared the crew to resume duty at about 10:30 p.m. Monday.... [Read More]

WASHINGTON – Coast Guard Recruiting Office Kansas City will send its first recruit to basic training at U.S. Coast Guard Training Center Cape May, New Jersey, Tuesday.
Melanie Yates, a 21-year-old female, is the first to “ship”’ from Topeka, Kansas.
“When I first thought about the military, I reviewed all of the other services. There weren’t any recruiting offices nearby,” said Yates. “As soon as I saw that the Kansas City office opened up, I signed right up.” ... [Read More]

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — The Coast Guard repatriated 18 of 23 Dominican migrants to the Dominican Republic Friday and Saturday following two at-sea interdictions by Caribbean Border Interagency Group law enforcement authorities in the Mona Passage.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Puerto Rico will be filing criminal charges against five of the interdicted migrants -- three of which face criminal prosecution for attempted illegal entry into the United States after being ordered removed. WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Coast Guard announced Monday that the service's sixth national security cutter, Munro, will be commissioned April 1, 2017, at the Smith Cove Cruise Terminal in Seattle.

WILMINGTON, N.C. — The Coast Guard suspended its search for a man last seen in Currituck Sound, west of Knotts Island, North Carolina, at approximately 6 p.m. Sunday.

NEW YORK - A Coast Guard Station Sandy Hook boatcrew and New York Fire Department Marine Eight rescue crew responded to a boat fire near Sandy Hook, New Jersey, Sunday.
At approximately 5:00 p.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Sandy Hook received a distress call via VHF-Channel 16 from a 40-foot recreational boat stating their vessel was on fire.
