CAPE CHARLES, Va — The Coast Guard towed a boat Saturday with three people aboard 10 miles south of Cape Charles. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Cape Charles received a report at 2:17 p.m. that a 16-foot boat was disabled with two men and a woman aboard. A 25-foot Rescue Boat-Small crew from Station Cape Charles was already underway conducting training and arrived on scene at 3:08 p.m. The boat crew took the boat in tow and towed it to Cape Charles at 5:17 p.m. ... HONOLULU — The Coast Guard Captain of the Port is closely monitoring the movement of Tropical Cyclone Amos and has set Port Condtion Zulu and closed the port of Pago Pago, American Samoa to all inbound and outbound traffic due to severe weather, Saturday. In preparation for Amos, the Coast Guard captain of the port strongly advised vessels of 200 gross tons or more to depart until the storm passed for safety concerns unless they received permission from the COTP to remain in port.... LOS ANGELES — Coast Guard rescued two kayakers in distress near Catalina Island, Friday. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach received a distress call at 5:15 p.m. from two kayakers exhibiting signs of exhaustion approximately 5 miles off Catalina Island. SAN FRANCISCO — The Coast Guard is urging vessel owners, operators, divers and beachgoers to exercise caution in and around the waters due to high surf and strong winds that will be affecting the Bay Area this weekend.The shoreline from Point Reyes south to Big Sur are expecting 10-foot swells. PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Rear Adm. Meredith L. Austin assumed command of the Coast Guard’s 5th District during a change-of-command ceremony Friday at the Nauticus in Norfolk. Austin relieved Rear Adm.
