PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard assisted rescue efforts Wednesday when a man driving a tractor-trailer drove off the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel near Cape Charles, Virginia. NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard rescued two people from a capsized tugboat two miles east of Baptiste Collette, Tuesday.   At 2:30 p.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans were contacted by handheld radio from a crewmember aboard the tugboat Katlynn Necole, stating that the vessel was taking on water. Watchstanders directed the Coast Guard Cutter Razorbill and crew to respond. The crewboat Simon also responded to the distress call.... [Read More]

LOS ANGELES—The Coast Guard advises the public to exercise caution when on and around central and southern California waters as a combination of larger sea swells and tides due to the effects of several severe weather systems moving through the area may be present. These systems will produce large southwest swells causing a small craft advisory to be place in effect until Friday at 10 a.m. Swell size will gradually increase over the week, peaking Thursday into early Friday. BOSTON — A Coast Guard 45-foot motor lifeboat crew from Station Eastport medevaced a man from the 35-foot fishing vessel Latta II Monday. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Northern New England’s command center received a call via VHF-16 radio at 4:20 p.m. from the captain of the Latta II reporting one of his crewmembers had sustained injuries to his left hand while operating a winch.  A 45-foot motor lifeboat crew from Station Eastport launched and arrived on scene at 4:49 p.m. and took the man aboard.... BOSTON — The crew of Coast Guard Cutter Spencer is towing the 95-foot fishing vessel Megan Marie, homeported in New Bedford, after it became disabled Sunday about 100 nautical miles east of Nantucket. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England’s command center received notification at approximately 7 a.m. Sunday from the Megan Marie's captain reporting the vessel, with six people aboard, was disabled due to a lost rudder....
