WILMINGTON, N.C. — The Coast Guard rescued a man suffering back pain Tuesday from a fishing vessel near Oregon Inlet.

ST. LOUIS – The Coast Guard has closed a portion of the Upper Mississippi River to all vessel traffic from mile markers 184 to 179, due to hazardous condition on the river near St. Louis.

MILWAUKEE — Coast Guard Sector Lake Michigan urges anyone going on or near the water Monday to use extreme caution and be aware of the weather that will be affecting the area over the next few days.
The National Weather Service in Milwaukee issued a storm warning for southern Lake Michigan through midnight and a gale warning for the entire lake until Tuesday morning.
Winds are expected to gust to more than 60 mph across the lake, and waves are forecast to build to more than 20 feet in some areas.... [Read More]

HONOLULU — The Coast Guard responded to a report of a disabled 50-foot sailing vessel with 10 people aboard a mile and a half from Kewalo Basin, Oahu, Sunday.
A 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station Honolulu towed the Witchdoctor II into Keehi Lagoon to prevent the vessel from running aground near Sand Island.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Honolulu received a call from the master aboard the Witchdoctor II at 6:15 p.m., stating the vessel was disabled and adrift.... [Read More]

NEW ORLEANS — Over the course of the past week, the Coast Guard responded to multiple cases along the Gulf of Mexico where people in distress were not wearing lifejackets.
Life Jackets should be used with any activity on the water, whether it's done with a paddle, motor or a sail. Using a properly fitted life jacket increases survivability in an accident, which gives rescuers more time to locate a victim.

MIAMI — Two U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crews rescued 12 people from their vessel taking on water in Cuban territorial seas Saturday.
Rescued were one Jamaican, two Nicaraguan, one U.S., and eight Haitian crewmembers.

HONOLULU — The Coast Guard is seeking the public's help in identifying the owner of a surfboard found near the entrance to Honolulu Harbor, off Oahu, Sunday.
The surfboard is 9-feet long and is white with a gray stripe and a tiki logo.

HOUSTON — The Coast Guard suspended the search for a 22-year-old man who went missing after his kayak overturned in Dickinson Bay, Saturday afternoon.
Coast Guard air and boat crews searched the Houston Ship Channel and waterways around Texas City until 12:30 p.m. Sunday, exhausting search efforts in the area.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A Coast Guard aircrew rescued two adults and one minor from an oil platform in Mesquite Bay Saturday evening.
At approximately 10 p.m., Coast Guard Station Port Aransas watchstanders received a call from a man stating he and two others swam to a platform after their boat capsized around 6 p.m.
Sector Corpus Christi watchstanders launched an MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter crew from Air Station Corpus Christi to conduct the rescue. The individuals reported no injuries and were transported to Rockport Airport.... [Read More]

A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew hoists a swimmer in distress who reportedly suffered a leg injury near Cape Lookout State Park in Ore., Dec. 26, 2015.
The aircrew worked with Tillamook Fire Department to rescue the 18-year-old man, then transferred him to emergency medical service personnel in the Cape Lookout State Park parking lot.

MIAMI — Crewmembers aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Isaac Mayo repatriated 27 Cuban migrants to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba, Saturday. This repatriation is a result of two separate migrant interdictions at sea, which both took place Friday, December 18, in the south Florida Straits.

PHILADELPHIA — The Coast Guard is overseeing salvage efforts Saturday for a motor vessel that ran aground on the Delaware River.
The vessel was successfully refloated at approximately 1 p.m.
The 622-foot Marshall Islands-flagged motor vessel, Odigitria, ran aground at approximately 4:30 a.m. as it was transiting to Grows Terminal in Morrisiville, Pennsylvania.
