MILWAUKEE — Coast Guard Sector Lake Michigan urges anyone going on or near the water Wednesday to use extreme caution and be aware of the weather that will be affecting the area over the next few days. The National Weather Service in Milwaukee issued a gale warning for all of Lake Michigan effective from Wednesday evening through Thursday morning. PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard urges mariners Wednesday to exercise caution while transiting the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AICW) due to shoaling conditions. Several portions of the AICW show significant shoaling, specifically those areas near mile markers 237, 271, 280 and 321 in North Carolina. There have been and continue to be groundings in these areas. GALVESTON, Texas — The crew aboard Coast Guard Cutter Dauntless came into port in time for Christmas Tuesday morning after a 52-day training and law enforcement patrol in the Gulf of Mexico. While underway, the crew attended the biannual Tailored Ship’s Training Availability in Mayport, Florida, where their efficiency at completing Coast Guard wartime missions was put to the test. CLEARWATER, Fla.— A Coast Guard aircraft crew safely made an emergency landing at St. Petersburg- Clearwater International Airport, Monday. A C-130 Hercules aircraft, from Air Station Clearwater, landed safely at 3:03 p.m. after a crewmember noticed a vibrating sound coming from one of the engines.  The aircrew made the determination to land utilizing only three engines, and at 2:50 p.m. contacted PIE airport air traffic control to conduct an emergency landing.... BOSTON — The Coast Guard is reminding boaters and paddlers heading out on the water this holiday season to keep safety in mind. MCKINLEYVILLE, Calif.  — The Coast Guard will hold a memorial service this Tuesday, Dec. 22, at Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay in McKinleyville in remembrance of the crew and passengers of the CG 1363 helicopter that crashed after rescuing 10 people 51 years ago during the North Coast’s “Storm of the Century." HONOLULU — Coast Guard and fire department crews ended their search for a missing free diver following the recovery of a body offshore Papohaku Beach, Molokai, Sunday. At 10:30 a.m., a body matching the description of Steven Likua was located and recovered by dive crews with the Molokai Fire Department. HONOLULU — Personnel from the Coast Guard and Molokai Fire Department are searching for a missing free diver offshore Papohaku Beach, Molokai, Sunday. Missing is 25-year-old Steven Likua. Likua was last seen swimming offshore at 3 p.m. Saturday wearing a full body camouflage wetsuit with fins, mask and snorkel. EMERALD ISLE, N.C. — The Coast Guard rescued a man and his dog Saturday from a yacht taking on water in Sneads Ferry.  Coast Guard watchstanders were notified Saturday the 38-foot yacht C-Lark with a man and his dog aboard was taking on water. A 24-foot Special Purpose Craft-Shallow Water crew launched from Station Emerald Isle at 4:30 p.m. and arrived on scene at  4:57 p.m. The boat crew rescued the man and his dog and transported them to New River Marina at 5:30 p.m.... BOSTON - The Coast Guard, Gloucester police, Marine Environmental Police, and the Gloucester Harbor Master are searching Saturday for a woman who may be missing near Smith Cove in Gloucester. Missing is Susan Nilsson, 56. Gloucester police alerted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Boston Saturday at about 1:30 p.m. to the situation. SAN DIEGO — The Coast Guard medically evacuated an 85-year-old man from a cruise ship approximately 220 miles south of Point Loma, San Diego, Friday. At 6:07 p.m., Friday, watchstanders at the Eleventh Coast Guard District in Alameda, California, received a report from the crew of the cruise ship Carnival Princess that an 85-year-old male passenger was experiencing symptoms of gastrointestinal bleeding.
