A Coast Guard aircrew aboard a HC-130 Hercules airplane patrols the Pacific Northwest crab fishing fleet prior to the pre-soak opening for commercial crab season, Jan. 1, 2016.
The aircrew assisted Washington and Oregon State Fish and Wildlife officers patrol and monitor the fishing fleet enforcing the permitted season opening.

BALTIMORE — The Coast Guard suspended its search Friday for a man believed to have entered the water Thursday near Sandy Point State Park off Annapolis.
Coast Guard Sector Baltimore watchstanders received a report Thursday at approximately 9 p.m. from Anne Arundel Fire Rescue stating a man not wearing a life jacket fell overboard from a sailboat.

NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard has issued a number of river closures, restrictions and advisories in response to floods in the Midwest.
To keep the public and professional mariners apprised of changes to river traffic, the 8th District will continue to issue press releases capturing all closures and restrictions throughout this period of high water and flooding.

SAN FRANCISCO — The Coast Guard will establish temporary safety zones beginning Thursday in designated Northern California waters for the upcoming New Year’s Eve firework displays. The safety zones may limit or prohibit navigation by commercial and recreational waterway users. LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Coast Guard has restricted traffic on the Mississippi River from mile marker 110 near Chester, Illinois to mile marker 34 near Billings Landing, Missouri, Wednesday.
Capt. ST. LOUIS – The Coast Guard has closed a portion of the Illinois River from mile marker 0 to 50, to all traffic, due to hazardous conditions on the final 50 miles of the river, prior to where it joins the Mississippi River.

BALTIMORE — Two survivors of a Dec. 20 capsized vessel incident were reunited with their rescuers Wednesday at Coast Guard Station Annapolis.
Brad Stemcosky and Charlie Frend met with responders from the Coast Guard, Maryland State Police, Maryland Natural Resources Police and Saint Mary's County.
Stemcosky and Frend, both of whom are experienced boaters, got caught in inclement weather, resulting in their boat taking on water and capsizing.... [Read More]

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard and several good Samaritan vessels are actively searching for a person in the water near the Hale Boggs Memorial Bridge, near mile marker 119, on the Lower Mississippi River, Wednesday.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders were notified of a capsized 24-foot workboat with four people on board, by phone at 10:45 a.m.

A boathouse located at the Jim Clark Marina on the south end of Harbor Island was damaged by a fire along with four recreational boats, two of which sank near Seattle, Dec. 29, 2015.
Incident management responders from Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound and Washington Department of Ecology are investigating and monitoring pollution concerns in the marina.
