CHARLESTON – Coast Guard Cutter Hamilton, the first national security cutter homeported on the East Coast, entered into active service today at Union Pier Terminal in downtown Charleston.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- A man suffering a medical emergency was medevaced by the Coast Guard from a cruise ship in Tampa Bay, Florida, Saturday.
A crew member from the Vision of the Seas, a Royal Caribbean cruise ship, contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg stating that a 59-year-old man was experiencing heart attack-like symptoms and was in need of emergency medical assistance.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard medevaced a 71-year-old woman suffering from abdominal pain Saturday from a cruise ship approximately 50 miles east of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina.
Crewmembers aboard the Norwegian Breakaway, a 1,069-foot cruise ship, contacted Coast Guard watchstanders at approximately 8:45 a.m., notifying them a woman was in need of medical attention aboard the ship.... [Read More]

St. Petersburg, Fla.— Coast Guardsmen received donated Christmas trees from Trees for Troops at Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach, Florida, Friday.
More than 20 Christmas trees were donated to Coast Guard members in the Fort Myers Beach area.
Trees for Troops has delivered more than 17,000 Christmas trees to active-duty military members in the U.S. and overseas this year. The Christmas SPIRIT Foundation, Fedex and donations from the public make Trees for Troops possible.... [Read More]

CAPE MAY, N.J. — Enlisted members assigned to the Coast Guard Training Center in Cape May, N.J. received a little Christmas cheer in the form of a tree donated to them as part of the Trees for Troops program, Dec. 5, 2014.
Trees for Troops is a program ran annually by the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation in partnership with FedEx, and will provide approximately 17,000 Christmas Trees to all branches of the service at 69 bases both here in the U.S. and overseas this year.... [Read More]

BOSTON — A Coast Guard crew from Station Point Allerton, Massachusetts, assisted a disabled clam boat 11 miles northwest of Provincetown, Massachusetts, Friday.
At about 8:30 p.m., Thursday, the four-person crew aboard the 40-foot Angel Fisher notified Coast Guard Sector Boston that their boat lost steering. Because of the deteriorating weather, with 5-foot seas and 16-knot winds, the Angel Fisher crew put on their immersion suits. CLEVELAND — The commander of the Coast Guard 9th District referred the case of a Coast Guard petty officer charged with sexually assaulting two Coast Guard coworkers in Michigan City, Indiana, to general court martial Wednesday.
