BOSTON — The Coast Guard was alerted to a boat fire Thursday off the coast of Hog Island, Rhode Island.
At approximately 3 p.m., a good Samaritan called Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England watchstanders to report a boat engulfed in flames near the shore of Hog Island.
Shortly after, Station Castle Hill immediately launched a 45-foot response boat crew and arrived on scene at about 3:30 p.m. and established a safety perimeter.... [Read More]

BOSTON — The Coast Guard dispatched a rescue boat Thursday to the scene of a sailboat collision near Bixby Island on Lake Champlain, Vermont.
At about 12:30 p.m., the crew aboard the 36-foot sailing vessel Eiger Strubli contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Northern New England, and reported that Eiger Strubli and the 40-foot sailing vessel Mane had collided.

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. - Coast Guard Base Elizabeth City welcomed North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory, who presented a proclamation in honor of the service’s 226th birthday, Thursday.
Following the proclamation, McCrory visited with the base’s civilian employees, active duty and retired Coast Guardsmen, along with their friends and families.
The event included a live band, barbecue and many family-oriented games and activities.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. —The U.S. Coast Guard medevaced a man Thursday who sustained a head injury 90-miles east of Jacksonville.
A Coast Guard Air Station Savannah MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew medevaced the 33-year-old man from the vessel Eagle Texas.
Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville command center watchstanders were notified Wednesday of a crew member who fell into a cargo hold and sustained a head injury. The vessel was 300-miles east of Jacksonville and changed course to rendezvous with rescue crews.... [Read More]
