NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard, state and local agencies have collected all visible mercury near the Berwick waterfront, Tuesday. Watchstanders with Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Morgan City received a report of less then one cup of silver liquid, resembling mercury inside the levee wall, Monday. MSU Morgan City, Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, along with local police and fire departments will continue to monitor mercury levels of the water and soil near the site.  ... HOUSTON — The Coast Guard issued a safety zone and temporarily restricted traffic on the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway after a barge sank east of the Galveston Causeway railroad bridge Tuesday. The restriction allows one-way and single-wide barges only, from mile marker 356 to mile marker 357. HOUSTON — A Coast Guard aircrew medevaced a man and woman showing symptoms of heat exposure, after their 30-foot boat ran aground near Rollover Bay Monday morning.  At about 11 a.m., a friend of one of the boaters notified Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders that they were overdue. PHILADELPHIA — The Coast Guard rescued two men after they went missing near Mispillion, Delaware, Monday. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay received a report at about 9 p.m. from a 911 dispatcher stating that a father and son were overdue after the men went boating near Cedar Creek Boat Ramp earlier Sunday afternoon. The Coast Guard and partner agencies searched for more than seven hours before locating the missing persons. LOS ANGELES — The Coast Guard rescued three boaters from their vessel after it began taking on water Saturday near Catalina Island. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach received a call from a 32-foot pleasure craft reporting that it was disabled and out of gas with three individuals aboard. The source also reported that they did not know their location but had left from Long Beach and were heading to Avalon. HOUSTON — Coast Guard crews located and rescued two men after hours of searching about 125 miles southeast of Galveston Saturday. Rescued are Karl Shram and Chris Bergeron of Lake Charles, Louisiana.
