NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard, Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, NOAA and the Oil Response Company are responding to a diesel spill in Gulfport, Mississippi, Wednesday. Watchstanders with Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a report at approximately 5 a.m., that a potential of 250 gallons of diesel was estimated to have entered Gulfport Harbor during a fuel transfer. The Oil Response Company has deployed 1,000 feet of containment boom around the vessel to reduce impact to the harbor.... [Read More]

MIAMI — Two boaters who were reported missing off the coast of Marathon, Florida, were located by a Coast Guard Air Station Miami HC-144 aircrew Wednesday. Raymond and Davonna Churchill, from Marathon, Florida, were located southeast of Marquesas Keys, Florida, aboard their 41-foot sailing vessel. NEW YORK — The Coast Guard has suspended the search for a paddle boarder who was last seen off Atlantic Beach, New York, on Sunday. Missing is Gary Turkel, 41. Turkel was reported missing by the Nassau County Fire Department at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Sunday. A family member called local authorities and stated Turkel had gone out on a paddle board and had not returned. A lifeguard in the vicinity of Atlantic Beach last saw him at approximately 3:30 p.m. Sunday on the paddle board without a life jacket.... [Read More]

HOUSTON — Coast Guard, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and Matagorda County Sheriff's Office are searching for a missing man near the mouth of the Colorado River, between Freeport and Port O'Connor. Missing is a hispanic male between 25 and 30-years-old, assumed to be in boxer shorts. NEW YORK – Coast Guard and local agencies suspended their search for a missing paddleboarder in the vicinity between Orient Point, New York, and Milford, Connecticut, Monday.  At approximately 12:00 p.m., the Clinton Fire Department located the body of the paddleboarder five miles south of the Connecticut River.
