SEATTLE — A Coast Guard boat crew rescued two fishermen after a 27-foot fishing vessel sank while being towed near the entrance buoy to Umpqua River, Oregon, Tuesday evening. The Station Umpqua River-based 29-foot Foot RBS-II crew safely recovered the two men in minutes and transported them to Station Umpqua River, where they were met by waiting EMS personnel and released in good condition.... NEW YORK - The Coast Guard rescued a mariner who had been knocked unconscious while aboard a sailing vessel near the Northport Yacht Club, New York, Tuesday.At approximately 7 p.m., Coast Guard Station Eaton’s Neck overheard a report of a mariner calling Northport Yacht Club in regards to his crewmember going overboard after being struck in the forehead by the vessel’s boom. Coast Guard crewmembers aboard a 25-foot Rescue Boat-Small arrived on scene. BALTIMORE — The Coast Guard responded to a sailboat taking on water Tuesday at the mouth of the South River. Coast Guard Sector Baltimore watchstanders received a report from a crewmember aboard a 44-foot sailboat via VHF-FM channel 16 at approximately 7 p.m. stating the sailboat was taking on water. A crew aboard a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium from Coast Guard Station Annapolis was in the area and diverted to respond. SAN FRANCISCO — The Coast Guard issued a $5,000 fine to a passenger that jumped from the charter fishing vessel Bass Tub into the waters off Muir Beach June 22, 2015. The passenger allegedly jumped off the vessel as part of a dare from his friends who were also aboard the vessel. The vessel's crew safely recovered the jumper, who was not injured.... [Read More]
