BALTIMORE — The captain of the port for the Port of Baltimore set ice condition three Friday and cautions mariners to be aware of ice formation within the Coast Guard Sector Baltimore COTP zone.
Ice condition three is set when weather conditions are favorable for the formation of ice in navigable waters.

BOSTON — The Coast Guard assisted two people aboard the 50-foot fishing boat Lois Virginia Thursday after the boat became disabled 31 miles south of Block Island.
The crew aboard Lois Virginia used a VHF-FM radio to contact Coast Guard watchstanders at about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday to report their distress.
The crew aboard the nearby 87-foot fishing boat Sao Paulo overheard the transmission and offered to tow the Lois Virginia into Point Judith, Rhode Island. ... [Read More]

Crewmembers successfully dewatered fishing vessel American Eagle using equipment dropped by an HC-130 Hercules airplane crew from Air Station Barbers Point. Thirty crewmembers are currently aboard the fishing vessel cleaning and assessing damage after a fire broke out Wednesday.... [Read More]

HONOLULU – The Coast Guard successfully coordinated the rescue of 42 people who abandoned ship when their fishing vessel American Eagle caught fire approximately 1,800 miles south of the Hawaiian Islands, Wednesday.
An HC-130 Hercules airplane crew from Air Station Barbers Point arrived on scene at 5:10 p.m. (HST), established communications with the fishing vessel's crew and dropped a dewatering pump, flash lights and flares.... [Read More]

BALTIMORE — The Unified Command received results Wednesday of oil samples recovered during response operations in Arlington, Virginia.
Analysis of these samples indicates they contain moderately weathered intermediate petroleum oil.

A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak, Alaska, MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew medevacs two injured crewmen from the 738-foot cargo ship Cemtex Venture approximately 220 miles southeast of Kodiak, Feb. 9, 2016.
The Jayhawk crew safely hoisted the men and rendezvoused with emergency medical services personnel in Kodiak where one patient was transferred by LifeMed to Anchorage and the other to Kodiak Providence Hospital.

CLEVELAND — The Great Lakes Ballast Water Working Group released its 2015 Summary of Great Lakes Seaway Ballast Water Management activities Thursday.
During 2015, 100 percent of vessels bound for the Great Lakes Seaway from outside the Exclusive Economic Zone received a ballast water management exam.

WILMINGTON, N.C. — The Coast Guard rescued two men Tuesday after their boat overturned near Carolina Beach.Sector North Carolina watchstanders received a report at 11:06 p.m. Monday stating two men, ages 25 and 35, were aboard the 41-foot fishing boat Allicat, when the boat ran aground in Snow's Cut.
