NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard, state and local agencies are responding to an oil spill near Bayou Teche, Monday evening. Watchstanders with Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Morgan City received call, around 8 p.m., from PSC Industrial Outsourcing reporting an unknown amount of crude oil spilled into Bayou Teche. The reporting source stated a tank was being filled with crude oil when the incident occurred. The source of the spill was secured and response crews deployed more than 200 yards of boom.... BOSTON — A Coast Guard crew towed a 52-foot Canadian flagged lobster boat with two people aboard to port Monday after it became disabled two miles southwest of Halfway Rock, Maine. At approximately 11:15 a.m. the captain of the Megan and Michael III contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Northern New England’s command center reporting his vessel had lost all power and was adrift. OREGON INLET, N.C. — The Coast Guard towed a disabled fishing vessel with three people aboard Sunday 38 miles east-southeast of Oregon Inlet. Watchstanders at Station Oregon Inlet received a report at 10:20 a.m. that the 32-foot fishing vessel Miss Lilah was disabled. A 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew from Coast Guard Station Oregon Inlet launched at 11:25 a.m. and arrived on scene at 2 p.m. The boat crew took the fishing vessel in tow and arrived at Wanchese Harbor at 9 p.m. ... BALTIMORE — The Coast Guard and local agency rescued 10 boaters Monday from the Potomac River near Washington. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Baltimore received a report at approximately 1 p.m. of two overturned scull boats along with a capsized trail boat and kayak. Two 29-foot Response Boat-Small crew from Station Washington diverted to assist. Two D.C. Metro fireboat crews responded and rescued five of the boaters. PETERSBURG, Fla.—The Coast Guard is advising boaters to avoid New Pass Entrance Channel, Sarasota County, Florida, and seek alternative routes until dredging operations and a new Federal Aids to Navigation system is put into place later this summer. Coast Guard units searched approximately 196 square miles of ocean during a 22-hour period. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay in Philadelphia received initial notification Friday at approximately 5:45 p.m. from the Brigantine Police Dept. of three to four people in the water from a capsized fishing boat.
