MIAMI — The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Charles David Jr., a 154-foot fast response cutter, repatriated 44 Cuban migrants to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba, Monday. These repatriations are a result of three separate migrant interdictions at sea within the last week in the south Florida Straits. WASHINGTON — The U.S Coast Guard is seeking applications for membership to fill upcoming vacancies on the National Boating Safety Advisory Council (NBSAC), which advises the Coast Guard on recreational boating safety regulations and other major boating safety matters. Each member serves for a term of three years. Members may be considered to serve a maximum of two consecutive full terms. All members serve at their own expense and receive no salary or other compensation from the federal government, with some exceptions for NBSAC meetings.... [Read More]

LOS ANGELES – The Unified Command continues to monitor the areas affected by the Istra Ace oil spill that occurred on March 13, 2016. On March 18, 2016, as part of the Unified Command, members of the Coast Guard and California Fish and Wildlife approved the cancellation of all safety and security zones issued by the Coast Guard that had restricted recreational and commercial vessel traffic in the affected area, thereby opening the channel to all vessel traffic including recreational boaters in the affected area. ... HONOLULU — Coast Guard and AMVER crews rescued three mariners who had been missing for several days 200 miles northwest of Tarawa, Republic of Kiribati, Friday. At 1 p.m., the motor vessel Woobong crew located the skiff with three men aboard outside of the designated search area while on their regular course.
